Dear member,
Another opportunity to meet the Police & Crime Commissioner candidate Giles Orpen-Smellie.
The Falklands War of 1982 was one of the decisive moments of Margaret Thatcher's time as Prime Minister. But how did decisions at the highest level of government impact on the servicemen who had to turn the Prime Minister's political direction into practical reality on the battlefield?
Giles Orpen-Smellie, the Conservative candidate to be the next Police & Crime Commissioner for Norfolk, fought in the campaign as a member of the Parachute Regiment. He will talk about the campaign for about half an hour and then questions.
Talk by Giles "Falkland Campaign 1982 - A reminiscence"
